Medicinal action of Gasiogapi
  • promotion action: increasing the overall function of body organs.
  • blood pressure normalizing effects: normalize blood pressure in artery.
  • Hypoglycemic effects: decrease blood glucose level.
  • Adaptogenic action: strengthens the body's defense and patience.
  • Non-toxic: Ogapi didn’t show any toxin at all the experiments.
  • At an experiment on radiotelegraph operators, when the subjects were given Ogapi, they performed their work with higher concentration, faster reaction speed, and better audio-visual capabilities.
Effects on diabetes
  • When Ogapi extract was given to severe diabetic patients (40 drops at a time, three times a day), blood glucose level decreased from 234 to 140 in a month.
    In addition, fatigue and debilitating condition of the patients improved significantly and itching improved also.
Effects on cancer and radiological treatment
  • When 2ml of Ogapi extract per day was given to mouth cancer patients who underwent radiological treatment at the same time, the cancer was completely treated within a month. For the patients who got radiological treatment only, it took about a month and 15 days to two months to get the same result.
    When the extract was given to mammary gland cancer patients during the period of radiological treatment, the patients didn’t have common side effects of radiological treatment such as discomfort, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite. After Ogapi extract was given 3-4 times to third stage cancer patients, the symptoms improved.
Arteriosclerosis
  • Overall condition of the patients started improving within a week of their taking Ogapi and the symptoms were significantly improved within a month.
    Symptoms like weakness and tiredness disappeared. Heart pain and headache reduced or disappeared.
Mental disorder such as neurosis
  • When Ogapi was given to patients with mental disorder such as neurosis, mental breakdown, depression, menopausal neurosis, their overall symptoms, such as insomnia, asthenia, emotional depression, improved.
    In addition, it was reported that Ogapi is effective for normalizing white blood cells, low blood pressure treatment, and post-surgery treatment.

  • Prostaglandin is one of common substances in living organism. As an autacoid, prostaglandin plays extremely important role in controlling biological functions. Currently, prostaglandin is one of the most notable bioactive substance.
  • To identify actual bioactive compound, several compounds were collected from velamen and the coat of bark. With each compound, inhibition activity of the prostaglandin synthetase was measured.
  • As a result, diterpenoid compounds from Ogapi showed about 5 times higher bioactivity than aspirin. It is expected that this compound is effective as anodyne and anti-inflammatory.
Treatise on psychogenic dysfunction restorer
  • Psychogenic dysfunction restorer with Eleutheroside E (Acanthoside D: syringareginol diglucoside) as an active ingredient, which is generally found in Acanthopanax.
  • Psychogenic dysfunction includes psychogenic sexual behavior disorders and memory (learning) disorder.
    Thus, psychogenic dysfunction restorer from this research is purposed specifically to restore disorders above.
  • Subjects were given Eleutheroside E (Acanthoside D: syringareginol diglucoside) every day through oral injection while they were put under stress that is known to cause sexual behavior disorder and memory disorder. The result shows that Eleutheroside E (Acanthoside D: syringareginol diglucoside) has suppression effect on those disorders.

  • As a result of anti-cancer activity experiment and toxicity testing, chiisanoside is less effective as anti-cancer substance than cisplatin, but chiisanoside shows much lower toxic level than cisplatin. <Cisplatin is an anti-cancer drug used for Testicular cancer, bladder cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, and cancers on head and neck.>
Thesis on the effect of ethanol extract from island Ogapi on phagocytosis in reticuloendothelial system of mouse Euicheol Shin, Parmacology department, Chungang University
  • It is reported that Acanthopanax is effective for anti-inflammatory, detoxification, anti-cancer, phagocytosis, liver reproduction. With the assumption that Ogapi has anti-baterial effect and immune system revitalizing effect, we performed mouse experiments regarding phagocytosis in reticuloendothelial system.
  • The ethanol extract from Island Ogapi facilitated carbonclearance with dose-dependent manner and showed meaningful results in the groups of 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg, and 400mg/kg.
  • When the extract was injected to carrageenan treated animal groups for three consecutive days, it supressed carbonclearance rate in all three groups of 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg, and 400mg/kg.
  • When the extract was injected to carrageenan treated animal groups one time, it showed more meaningful result than three day injection.
  • Considering the results of experiments on normal animal groups and carrageennan treated animal groups, the ethanol extract of Island Ogapi is effective for revitalizing immune system.
Thesis on pharmacological study on [-]-pimara-9[11], 15-dlene-19-olc acid, substances from Island Ogapi Yeongsun Lee, Pharmacology Department, Seoul National University
  • This is results from medicinal effect experiement of (-)-pimara-9(11), 15-diene-19-oic acid[(-)-PD acid], which are diterpenoid substances from Island Ogapi.
  • When administrated orally to mouse, [(-)-PD acid] was little toxic,
  • When adinistrated orally to mouse, [(-)-PD acid] had no effect on central nerve system,
  • When adinistrated orally to mouse, [(-)-PD acid] had no muscle relaxtion effect,
  • When adinistrated orally to mouse, [(-)-PD acid] had pain relief effect,
  • When adinistrated orally to white mouse, [(-)-PD acid] supressed edema on the bottom of the foot caused by carrageenin in three hours,
  • When adinistrated orally to mouse, [(-)-PD acid] was effective for the inhibition of capillary permeability,
  • [(-)-PD acid] strongly suppressed Leukocyte Migration,
  • [(-)-PD acid] strongly suppressed Leukocyte Migration and PG E2 generation,
  • [(-)-PD acid] suppressed 5-HETE and LTB3 about 50%,
  • [(-)-PD acid] suppressed the generation of LTC4, LTD4, and LTE4,

  • Through the results of experiments, diterpenoid compound is effective for pain relief and anti-inflammation, which is caused by suppressing PG E2 composition and 5-lipoxygenase activation. This compound also suppress the composition of LTC4, LTD4, and LTE4 that are related to anaphylaxis.

  • From the biological experiments on chiisanoside from Jiri Ogapi (Korea), it was proved that chiisanoside was effective for anti-histamine, anti-diabetic, detoxification, anti-liver fat metamorphism.
  • Anti-histamine effect on white mouse.
  • Lower the blood sugar of rabbits.
  • Accelerate the removal of chloramphenicol from blood of rabbit – detoxification.
  • When administrated orally to white mouse, it reduced s-GPT and s-GOT. It also significantly reduced central lobular liver necrosis and fatty degeneration.
